Magnetic Tile Toys – Unique Build-a-Robot Activity
Magnetic tile toys are so versatile! Take a break from building castles, and build-a-robot using screws, nuts, bolts, and other metal objects for loose parts!
Why We Love Magnetic Tile Toys
When it comes to creative play, it’s important that you have some open-ended play toys for them to explore! Magnetic tiles allow kiddos to build imaginatively and confidently with the aid of a magnetic force!
Not all magnetic tiles are alike though, which is why we love Connetix Magnetic Tiles. They are super strong, durable, vibrant, and have a fun beveled design. They have lots of sets to choose from including a ball run and car sets!

Setting Up Magnetic Tile Toys for a Build-a-Robot Activity
The great part about this fun activity is that all you need are magnetic tile toys and metal loose parts to start creating. Have the kiddos build the robot, or surprise them with a pre-built one and present a tray of bolts, screws, nuts, and other metal objects for them to decorate!
Watch the video to see the activity in action! I love how my daughter used allen wrenches as noses, and mason jar lids for eyes and ears!

Tips for Making This Magnetic Tile Robot
Choose Strong Magnetic Tiles. I’ve found that the stronger the magnetic tile toys, the longer lasting the play! No kiddo likes spending a bunch of time building something only to have it topple down because of weak magnets! That’s why we love Connetix Tiles. They are super strong!
Raid the Tool Box! After building a strong magnetic robot that won’t fall, the next best thing is finding lots of loose metal parts to stick to it. It’s amazing how quickly random metal parts can form to make fun facial features!
Invitation to Play Tray. Organize those loose metal parts into a tray with compartments! Kids can help sort and organize the different parts before building their robot!
