Tips for Making This Dinosaur Kids Craft

Here are a few tips and tricks to making the most out of this handprint dinosaur kids craft!

First off, you can make handprints with lots of different art mediums. One of the ways we love making them is with stamp pads! Just press your hand down on the stamp pad until you see the hand covered with color! Handprints often come out even and dry very quickly. But the best part about them? The ink is totally washable! Of course, you can always use paint – the tempera paint will be the washable kind!

Also, make sure you allow for drying time if you add a stick border. We used tacky glue as it provides a long lasting hold, but that also means it doesn’t dry immediately like hot glue! Making the stick border was one of our favorite parts. Definitely enjoy some time outside collecting the perfect sticks to make the coolest looking texture to your frame!

Materials

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Have your little one put their hand on the ink pad and then press their hand down on a white piece of construction paper.

Step 2

Draw a head and tail onto the handprint to complete the dinosaur, then color it in with marker.

Step 3

Cut out the entire dinosaur and glue it onto another piece of paper.

Step 4

Place the sticks around the edges and glue them on as a frame.

Step 5

Add a cute saying like “You’re Dino-Mite” if you are giving this as a keepsake gift!

Why We Love This Dinosaur Kids Craft

Handprint art is great because it gives your child a wonderful sensory activity. Not only are they imagining how it’s going to look throughout the process and at the end, but they’re also feeling their way through the process.

This type of project is a great way to increase their creativity because it shows them that there are so many different ways to create different kinds of art. They may have never thought to use their hands as a central part of a piece of art!

This dinosaur kids craft is perfect for working on their scissors skills as well as their hand-eye coordination. Since they’ll be cutting and gluing, it’s the perfect way to give them more practice in those areas.

What is a DIY Slider Card?

A DIY slider card is a unique and interactive greeting card that adds an element of surprise. Unlike traditional cards, a slider card features a movable component that creates a dynamic, engaging experience for the recipient.

In this particular Fathers Day card template, the design allows a child to “move” towards their father when the tab is pulled, creating the heartwarming visual effect of a hug. This is achieved by attaching images of the father and child with outstretched arms to the card and the inner tab, respectively. As the inner tab is pulled, the child’s image slides across the card towards the father’s image, culminating in a touching embrace.

One of the best aspects of this DIY slider card is its customizable nature. You can personalize the card by using your own photos of the child and father, adding a deeply personal touch. Additionally, you can write a heartfelt message on the inner tab that is revealed when the card is in motion, along with a special greeting on the outer part of the card, such as “Happy Father’s Day” at the top and sentiments like “You are the best” or “I love you!” at the bottom. This flexibility allows you to create a truly unique and meaningful gift that perfectly expresses your love and appreciation.
